Shuyan (Apple) Zhou

Shuyan recently completed her B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech and will begin her M.S. in Fall 2026. She is a research intern with the IOTrust Lab at the University of Utah, where she studies industrial control systems and cyber-physical security. Her work focuses on cyber-physical security validation using PLC and HMI analysis, controller–simulator mapping, digital twins, and realistic testbeds for critical infrastructure. Her research interests include ICS security, digital twins, hardware-in-the-loop testing, wireless systems, and trustworthy AI.
